Stefano d’Arcangelo was introduced to the director by Wu Ming, because he collaborates with them on numerous projects composing the musical environments for various live shows they have worked on here or for experiments in recordings to their credit. As soon as he heard about the project he threw himself into it willingly and with great enthusiasm being very much akin to the cause of the film.

WU MING is a collective of Bologna-based writers who have experimented and invented numerous literary and other experiments around Luther Blisset’s mystery entity. They are the authors of Q, 54, Manituana, Altai and other internationally known works of historical fiction, a form they practiced for many years until they decided to move on and use history in other ways. The last historical novel in the sequence that began with Q in the 1990s was The Army of Sleepwalkers (2014), which already heralded changes.
Today they treasure what they have learned from exploring that genre and forcing its conventions, and they turn to new experiments, seeking an uncanny balance between history and fantasy. That is what they tried to do with The Invisible Everywhere (2015), Proletkult (2018), The Wind Machine (2019) and UFO 78 (2022).
After the first dive and round of filming, studio time begins for the filmmaker to learn more about a region he had never been to before. And that’s when he discovers and reads the texts and critical readings WU MING developed around the flood and decides to engage them to contribute their analyses and voices to the documentary’s narrative.
